Protect employees from hazardous energy and comply with OSHA requirements.

What is Lockout and Tagout Training?

Lockout and Tagout Training is required training for your employees. The training implements the practice of shutting down equipment and isolating the energy to prevent accidents from happening. The OSHA standard for The Control of Hazardous Energy is also known as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO). A LOTO program addresses the steps necessary to disable machinery or equipment that could release hazardous energy or start unexpectedly during servicing or maintenance activities. The OSHA standard covers a number of specific hazardous energies, including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, chemical, and thermal. As an employer, you need to have a LOTO program in place and provide training to your employees.

Lockout/Tagout Training will cover :

  • OSHA’s requirements for Lockout and Tagout
  • Review of the lockout systems
  • Review of the tagout systems
  • The process to apply Lockout and Tagout
  • The process to remove Lockout and Tagout

After completing the training, your employees will be able to:

  • Assess the situation and decide if they need to Lockout and Tagout the equipment
  • Use lockout and tagout equipment

Insure Compliance will meet with your staff and conduct in-person training that demonstrates how and when to use a fire extinguisher that will fulfill OSHA’s Lockout and Tagout training requirements.

Regulations covered:

  • 1910.147(c)(7)

The employer shall provide training to ensure that the purpose and function of the energy control program are understood by employees and that the knowledge and skills required for the safe application, usage, and removal of the energy controls are acquired by employees

Why should I do a Lockout and Tagout Training?

Lockout and Tagout Training is required training, but also essential in the common situation where multiple employees work within a charged system.

The main benefits to providing LOTO training are to:

  • Provide workers with a safe work environment
  • Fulfill OSHA guidelines
  • Take steps to minimize risk in the workplace
  • Help with insurance requirements
